PLEASANT VIEW DRESS CODE

The Board of Education has approved a school uniform for Pleasant View Middle School. This dress code has been established by the Pleasant View Middle School administration and faculty to create a positive learning environment that promotes academic growth and safety for all students and staff.

Pleasant View will follow the rules below for the uniform:

Clothing in General

  1. School clothing must be size-appropriate. It is understandable to purchase clothing a size bigger, so that growing middle school students can fit into them for a time period. However, we will not accept excessively baggy pants or tops that are too long. You should not be able to pull fabric more than 4 inches away from a student’s thigh or back. Shirts that are excessively long will need to be tucked in.
  2. All pants/shorts must be worn on the waistline. ABSOLUTELY NO SAGGING.  (Extra belts will be housed in the front office to assure No Sagging)
  3. Undergarments should not be exposed when the student walks, stands, bends, kneels, or sits.
  4. Pleasant View accepts all forms of shoes as the manufacturer originally produced them. Sandals are acceptable if they do not distract from the learning environment. Laced shoes will be laced and tied. Slippers are not allowed at any time at school.
  5. Hats, hoods, beanies, bandanas, tiaras, elaborate headbands, and sunglasses are not to be worn in the building.
  6. If a heavier non-PV coat is worn to school, it must be stored in a student’s gym locker during the day.
  7. Trench coats are not acceptable at any time.
  8. Tattoos need to be covered if they are determined to be a distraction, as determined by administration.
  9. Temporary tattoos, henna, or any writing is also prohibited. Students will be asked to remove them or cover them up.
  10. Spiked jewelry of any kind, including behind ear gauges, is not allowed at school.
  11. No clothing or accessories worn or brought to school should promote drug, alcohol, gang, sexual, or violence related themes.
  12. Any clothing, excessive make-up, nail polish, hair style, piercings and other attire that distracts from the educational process and environment is not acceptable. (Any excessive distractions to the educational environmental process will not be tolerated on school grounds)
